General Terms & Conditions
AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum driver's age is 25. Drivers between 21 - 24 year old can rent groups A, B and K after accepting an additional Young Driver Surcharge (YDS). Drivers over the age of 71 years are subject to a Senior Driver Surcharge.
YOUNG DRIVER SURCHAGE: Young Driver Surcharge (YDS) allows customers between 21 and 24 years of age to rent Groups A, B & K, under the condition that they hold a driver's license for at least 12 months prior to the pickup day, for an additional charge of €7/rental day, with a maximum charge of €70.
SENIOR DRIVER SURCHAGE: All drivers over the age of 71, are subject to an additional charge of 7€/rental day, with a maximum charge of 70€.
PAYMENT METHOD: For all groups a valid Credit Card accepted by Hertz, must be shown for all necessary pre-authorization amounts as well as pre-payments and settlement of final rental charges.
GRACE PERIOD: At the end of the agreed rental period, Supplier allows a grace period of 29 minutes free of charge after which the customer will be charged with a minimum of one full day rental.
DRIVING LICENSE: A valid driving license held for at least one (1) year is required.
TRAFFIC FINES: All fines resulting from the driver's misconduct are born solely by the renter. If the renter fails to pay them, Hertz will pay them and will charge the customer with the full amount of traffic fine plus the Incident Administration Fee, 13€ per case, in order to cover all administration expenses.
EARLY RETURN / EXTENSION OF RENTAL: No refund for any unused voucher value/rental days. Ongoing rental extension should be arranged with Hertz Bulgaria at least 48 hours before the intended/reserved rental expiry, to be charged as per valid retail tariff.
THIRD PARTY LIABILITY: All Covers the rented vehicle for claims from property damage up to 1,000,000€ and third party personal injury or death up to 5,000,000€ per case, to the amounts specified by Bulgarian Law.
COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW)/SCDW): The renter's liability for damages to HERTZ vehicle can be reduced as per Rental Agreement's term and conditions, to a minimum charge of €500 euros for groups A, B, K, V2, €700 for groups C, D, L, M, V3, 900€ for Group N and €1,100 for groups YL, 9 V4 by paying on additional daily fee of €11, €16, €19, €26 respectively.
The renter may reduce the above liability to a minimum charge of €150 for Groups A, B, K, V2 225€ for Groups C, D, L, M, V3, 300€ for Group N 400€ for Groups YL,9 V4 by purchasing the additional daily coverage (SCDW), by paying additionally €7, €10, €12 and €16 per day respectively.
THEFT PROTECTION (TP): For a charge of €5 per day for groups A, B, K, V2, €8 for groups C, D, L, M, V3, €10 for Group N and €13 for groups YL, 9, V4, Theft Protection can be obtained, to reduce the liability of driver in case of theft to: 500€ for Groups A, B, K, V2, 700€ for Groups C, D, L, M, V3, 900€ for Group N & 1,100€ for Groups YL, 9 V4.
Collisions Damage Waiver and theft protection do not cover damages of the underside body of the vehicle, tires and rims, theft of rims covers, radio/CD players, registration documents, key with alarm remote control and theft of any personal luggage. Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection do not cover any damage or theft if he/she violates the conditions for use the vehicle or shall have operated the vehicle in contradiction with the rental agreement and/or the legal provisions. Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) Can be accepted only after acceptance of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Liability may in no case be restricted or cancelled at partial theft, loss of parts, accessories. documents, at damage to tires and any other part on the undercarriage of the vehicle.
SUPER COVER (SC): Τhe renter can be covered (with zero excess) in case of total theft or damage to the Hertz vehicle, provided that the renter has previously accepted the relevant coverage charges for CDW, SCDW, and TP with a daily charge of €3 for groups A, B, K, V2, €4 for groups C, D, L, M, V3, €5 for Group N and €6 for groups YL, 9, V4 or has a reservation inclusive of these coverages. Damage to the underside of the car, the wheels & tyres, broken car glass or loss of the vehicle keys are not covered.
PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVERAGE (PAC): For a charge of €4 per day, Personal Accident Insu¬rance can be obtained. This insurance covers the driver and each passenger or medical expenses up to €2.000 and loss of life or total/partial permanent disablement by €20.000 and €10.000 respectively. Aggregate indemnity per accident limited to €40.000.
INCIDENT ADMINISTRATION FEE (IAF): In case of an accident due to the Renter's liability, Renter has the obligation to pay to HERTZ a non-refundable fee of €13 to cover the administration expenses.
FUEL POLICY: For rental durations of 1-2 days, the customer should return the car with the same quantity of fuel as shown at the time of pickup. In the event that the customer returns it with less quantity, the customer will be charged the value of the missing fuel. Additionally, a Refueling Service Charge will be applied, which today is €15.
For rental durations of three (3) days or more, the customer is required to prepay the cost of the quantity of fuel which is in the tank of the rented car at the pickup time. Upon returning the car –and only at this time– the customer may ask to be refunded with the value of the fuel in the tank at that time. In this instance, if the quantity of fuel in the tank is less than the one the customer has prepaid, then the Refuelling Service Charge will be applied, which today is €15. Any refund due will be processed through customer's credit/debit card.
RE-FUELING SERVICE CHARGE: €15.
WINDSCREEN PROTECTION: The renters liability for damage on the windscreen of the car can be reduced, as per Rental Agreement's Terms & Conditions, to 0€, by accepting an additonal daily payment of €2 for groups A, B and K, €3 for groups C, D, L, M, €4 for group N and €5 for groups YL, 9.
AIRPORT SERVICE CHARGE (ASC): 10% of the rental agreement value, but at least €18 per rental starting at the airport location.
DELIVERY / COLLECTION: Every collection or delivery which does not take place at a Hertz location shall be charged €30 (city rate). For outside limits the charge is 0.70 euros per km. Out of hours collection or delivery is charged €30.
ONE WAY RENTALS: Applicable between Hertz locations in Bulgaria at €0.50 per klm . Fixed charges from Sofia: to Bourgas/Sunny Beach -€220, to Varna - €250; from Varna: to Bourgas/Sunny Beach – €120.
ACROSS BORDER RENTALS: All vehicles except luxury categories might be allowed to travel abroad under special conditions and only on request from the local Hertz Office. Request must be made 5 days in advance of the rental pick up date and the cost is 80€ for European countries and 120€ for all other countries.
Hertz vehicles are not allowed to travel to the following countries: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Estonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine. Failure to comply with these restrictions makes void all insurance policies and customer fully liable and responsible in case of a theft, accident, damages to the vehicle and any resulting consequences.
ADDITIONAL DRIVER CHARGE: A charge of €4 euros per day has to be paid for each additional driver (maximum charge 10 days).
BABY/CHILD SEATS:Available on request with a daily charge of €4 (maximum charge 40€).
GPS: Available on request with a daily charge of €9 (maximum charge 90€).
SNOW CHAINS: Available on request with a daily charge of €4 (maximum charge 40€).
VIGNETTE TAX: Rentals are subject to a charge of €1.50 per rental day for vignette tax.
FLEET AVAILABILITY: The Company reserves the right to provide a different car model to that originally reserved of an equivalent or higher model type.
TAXES: All rates and charges are subjected to 20% VAT.
